Gilbert Syndrome
Gilbert Syndrome is when the liver doesn't clean all the old blood cells away so old blood cells are still in the blood system. Biliirubin is the end product of old blood cells.
The normal pathway is old blood cells from your Blood System go to your Liver then Gall Bladder then to your Intestines and comes out in your poo - no bilibrubin (old blood cells) in your pee!
The not normal pathway happens when you have Gilbert Syndrome: The old blood cells from your Blood System go to your Liver then to your Blood System again, then to your Kidneys and comes out in your pee - bilibrubin in pee!
My dad has Gilbert Syndrome and I am testing my family to see who else has it.
Wow! What a cool science fair project!! I can't believe you are going to test me!!
